Joanna Lerner, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lerner is excited to be a part of the team at Hampstead Animal Hospital! She was drawn to the hospital after seeing the dedicated, high quality medicine and surgery that is practiced here. After spending the past few years practicing in Massachusetts, she is happy to be serving the people of New Hampshire and helping to provide the best veterinary care for their pets.

Dr. Lerner attended the University of Massachusetts for her undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology with minors in Nutrition and Computer Science. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

In addition to caring for pets at the hospital, Dr. Lerner has many of her own! Spongy, her affectionate Coconut Retriever, came into her life when she was attending Ross University on Saint Kitts. He was a part of her school program but it was apparent that he needed a stable, consistent home instead. Dr. Lerner was thrilled to have him join her family and together they spend a lot of time outdoors where he loves to run and explore. She also has Gracie, a senior Doberman Pinscher that she and her husband adopted. Gracie loves getting affection from others and she knows exactly how to get it! She gives gentle hugs and quick kisses that would melt any heart. Gracie recently lost her eye to cancer but she is doing well at this time and they are enjoying her company as long as they can. Her pet family also includes a 12 year old cat named Sebastian and a Bearded Dragon name Clarice.

When she is not providing veterinary care for families, she enjoys spending time knitting, crocheting, hiking in the White Mountains with her dogs and husband and reading fiction novels. Dr. Lerner lives with her husband, Jeremy, and four-legged family members in the woods of New Hampshire.

With a special interest in dentistry, Dr. Lerner has seen how life-changing dental care can be for patients and how drastically it can improve their quality of life. She also has a special interest in general medicine, surgery and exotic pets. She loves working with all kinds of animals and is excited to be a part of the community at Hampstead!
